MPRA SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATE INITIATIVE SUSPENDED
After
much research, preparation and marketing, we were recently
able to offer the opportunity to sign up for the MPRA
specialty license plate. The design, created by MPRA staff,
was submitted and unanimously approved by the Budget
Oversight Committee of the Missouri House of Representatives
on January 23, 2008.
However, due to a decision in Federal Court, the process by
which these plates are approved has been suspended for this
legislative session. We received notice of this ruling only
after taking all the necessary steps to move forward,
and beginning a vigorous marketing effort. We clearly
understand that this is a disappointment to all involved,
and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
While
there is a real possibility that this will be revisited next
session, and MPRA could indeed have the chance to re-submit
and subsequently make their plates available, we have
decided that the most responsible action is to return the
fees collected to date.
If you
submitted an application and payment, you may expect to
receive the refund within the next 30-60 days. If you do
not receive this by June 1, 2008 please contact our office.
Please
watch the MPRA website for the most current information on
this issue, and if indeed we are able to restart this great
initiative, be one of the first to “drive home” the value of
parks and recreation in enhancing the lives of all
Missourians!
