Professional
Certification
Greetings to all Missouri Certified
Park and Recreation Professionals!
NRPA is now the coordinating body for
all professional certification applications and renewals.
What does that mean?
-
All certified professionals should
continue to collect their CEU documentation as you attend
qualifying (pre-approved by MPRA). The difference is that now,
each individual will be responsible for applying directly to
NRPA for renewal when required, and sending in that application
and proof of CEUs.
-
The MPRA Professional
Certification Board will continue to review session proposals
for MPRA-sponsored events (Annual conference, LDI, FDS, MTS,
etc.) and if approved by our reviewing body, will automatically
be accepted by NRPA. At these events, MPRA will keep records of
attendance, but it will be the individual’s responsibility to
retain these records and submit them with your renewal
application.
-
Any other classes/seminars that
you attend or plan to attend will be open to consideration for
CEU credit, but will need to be sent directly to NRPA for that
review.
-
There will no longer be an
application or fee charged for Missouri certification.
-
There will be no fees attached to
pre-approved sessions.
-
There will be fees assigned to
NRPA’s process, which will be described to you.
-
Following the delivery of all of
Missouri’s certification documents to NRPA, they will send a
confirmation e-mail notification to all certified professional
further describing the changes and future instructions.
-
The certification period will
remain two (2) years; however, the month of expiration will
change to the later of NRPA’s cycle months. If your
certification currently expires in June, it will now expire in
September; if December, it will now expire in March. The
reality is that during the first renewal cycle, you will have an
extra 3 months in which to earn the required CEUs.
-
If you have any missing items in
your certification status (initial or renewal) you have been
notified. If MPRA did not receive these prior to 1/22/08, the
file has been sent to NRPA with notes attached as to what is
missing, and individuals will need to work with NRPA to resolve
these issues.
